Update of NEET PG Counselling 2021

Counselling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam (NEET PG Exam) for Post-graduate medical courses has remained suspended. Currently, this matter is under a legal bicker in Supreme Court.

The July 29 notification of the Medical Counselling Committee providing 27% reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and 10% quota to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in NEET-PG (All India Quota).

The matter was last heard on November 25, as they restrict the criteria that fix a limit of Rs 8 lakh in annual income to determine EWS to extend reservation benefits.

However, the Focus is on clarifying what practice it had embraced to show up at the Rs 8 lakh yearly pay models to decide EWS qualification for reservation in medical seats under NEET (AIQ).

Doctor’s Strike on NEET PG 2021 Counselling

The Omicron variant of the Coronavirus is on the rise and doctors from medical college-associated hospitals have been spearheading a nationwide protest. They are demanding that NEET-PG counselling be conducted at the earliest.

Medical Experts who have completed their MBBS degree and internship have to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam for Post-graduate courses. They need to take the examination to study a particular specialization in programs like medicine or surgery.

As usual, the National Board of Examination (NBE) conducts this Post-Graduate Medical Exam in January. This year, the NBE has postponed it until further notice in view of the Covid-19 situation.

The stir, led by FORDA India, entered its 12th day on Tuesday. In the meeting, they put all the points of concern forward. However, the response was not satisfactory, as per the FORDA.

Who participated in the protest?

Basically, this protest started nearly a month ago with the help of Junior and senior doctors. From the OPD services to all routine care of patients in the ward and finally from the emergency services are shut down by the doctors.

Currently, these services are managed by consultants, and few senior doctors are available in the hospitals. Because of this situation, hospitals are now restricting the number of admissions, canceling surgeries, and also reducing the treatment in the OPD.
