Odisha’s Pooshan Tops NEET PG: Never Expected Rank 1!

In a proud moment for Odisha, Pooshan Mohapatra, a 24 year-old from Cuttack has achieved All India Rank 1 in NEET PG 2025. The NBE Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the results on Tuesday in which Pooshan scored an impressive 707 out of 800 marks. The topper completed his MBBS at SCB Medical College and Hospital which is considered to be the top medical colleges in the state. What makes his achievement more special is that he cleared the tough NEET PG exam on his very first attempt, all while continuing to attend to patients during his studies. His success has been widely appreciated and has brought great pride to his family, friends, and the entire state of Odisha.

While talking to the media, Pooshan Mohapatra shared details about his preparation journey. He said that he decided to appear for NEET PG exam in January 2025. After finishing his internship in March, he started serious preparation from the month of April. He used online study platforms and solved many test papers which helped him improve step by step. Pooshan admitted that he never expected to become the All India Rank 1 topper. His father, Jaykrishna Mohapatra who runs a printing and publication business said the family always believed in giving Pooshan the freedom to follow his dreams without any pressure, and they are proud of his achievement. After which Pooshan thanked his parents for their constant support. 

The achievement of Pooshan Mohapatra, Odisha’s NEET PG 2025 topper, has drawn praise from top leaders. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated him on social media platform X, calling him an inspiration for Odisha’s youth. The CM highlighted the importance of hardworking and talented individuals like Pooshan in the state’s progress. 

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also congratulated Pooshan and appreciated his dedication and wished him a bright future. Looking ahead, Pooshan shared that he wishes to specialise in Medicine or Radiology during his postgraduate studies. His advice to medical aspirants is to stay focused, prepare with full effort and not stress too much about ranks. In conclusion, Pooshan’s top rank in NEET PG 2025 is not only a personal triumph but also a proud moment for Odisha, inspiring countless students to pursue their dreams with dedication, focus, and support from family.
