NEET UG Counselling 2026 Latest Updates: MCC Releases New Resignation Rules for Freeze Candidates, Check Withdrawal Process

New official guidelines related to the process of resignation from the Round 1 seats in NEET UG Counselling 2026 have been issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). This Notice has been issued on the official website on 31st August 2026. It should be kept in mind that this notice is only in respect of “FREEZE” candidates who have got themselves admitted into their respective medical or dental seats in Round 1 and wish to resign from these seats. According to the new guidelines, "FREEZE" candidates will not be required to forfeit any security deposit when they surrender their seats before the deadline of 2nd September 2026, 1 PM.

MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Resignation Schedule

The candidates cannot proceed with the resignation of their seat from their own home location. The MCC has enforced a stringent physical procedure for the process of reporting to ensure the process of cancellation is neither forged nor unauthorised. The students have to take care of the following procedure to make sure their resignation is legal:

• Physical Procedure: The candidate has to visit the medical or dental college where they have joined and got their Round 1 seat allotted.

• Intention Declaration: Communicate with the college’s administration and admission authorities regarding the intention to resign from the seat.

• Nodal Officer Procedure: Request the designated Nodal Officer of the admitted college to log in to the official MCC website https://mcc.nic.in/ and start the resignation process on their end.

• Generation of Online Resignation Slip: Make sure the Nodal Officer generates an official Resignation Letter/Seat Withdrawal Slip through the official MCC website itself.

• Resignation Slip Documentation: Get a physical copy/digital print of the generated resignation slip.

Critical Warnings for NEET UG Candidates

The MCC has given a very firm directive about partial withdrawal. In case the student does not convey his intention to leave through either an oral or written application at the college without an online transaction, he shall face dire consequences.

• The “Null & Void” Clause: If the procedure is not followed through the MCC portal by the Nodal Officer of the institute, then the entire procedure will be treated as “Null & Void.”

• Retention of the Admitted Candidate’s Status: If the online form is not filled out, then he will be considered as the admitted candidate of the concerned college, making him ineligible for further counselling sessions.

• Adherence to the Deadline: The services will be terminated by the portal strictly on 2nd September 2026 at 1:00 P.M. There will be no concession after that time.

What Happens After Resigning?

Candidates will be able to vacate the Round 1 seat without compromising the financial security deposit by successfully completing the resignation procedure from the Round 1 seat within the stipulated time. This will give the opportunity to eligible students to attend NEET UG Counselling Round 2 sessions without any financial difficulty.
