The Postponement Fiasco

For weeks, candidates from all over the nation had been clamoring for the postponement of the NEET Exam. Their reasons included it clashing with other important exams like the ComedK as well as students not having enough time to adjust to the changed pattern.

However, the NTA refused to give in to the student demands and came out with a statement cementing that the NEET Exam dates won’t be changed.

“There is no direct clash of NEET with other exams, thus the medical exam will be held as scheduled next month”, the Director-General of the National Testing Agency Vineet Joshi said in a statement.

Other reasons given by the authorities include the fact that postponement will lead to delays in admissions and other important work.

Covid-19 Protocols Followed

In a historic development, around 16 Lakh students had registered for this year’s NEET Examination. Thus, the NTA and Ministry of Education have taken special precautions to ensure the safety of candidates. The primary step was to postpone the date from August 1 to September 12, 2021.

Additionally, the number of exam centers has been increased to 3,862. The number of cities i.e locations where the examination will be conducted has also been increased from 155 to 198, including a new center in Dubai.

Moreover, candidates showing Covid symptoms shall be incorporated in separate rooms, in addition to ensuring face masks, sanitization, and thermal screening of all students.
